Teacher's Day Cake

I was asked to bake a cake for my son's school's Teacher's Day Celebration on Monday. I just did some simple flower design on the cake. I find that my writing on the cake sucks. After all the piping of the basket weave and the flowers and the leaves, and when it came to the writing my hands was a little shaky. Anyway, my handwriting needs improvement. Sharing with you my Teacher's Day cake and also wishing all those who are teachers, a Very Happy Teacher's Day!

The whole cake.

I also baked some individual chocolate cupcakes with chocolate ganache for the boys to give to their teachers. The cupcake boxes are so cute right. I really like the house shape boxes. So sweet right?

Hey hugbear,

Your handwriting is very nice.. Not flattering u. It has got the "innocent student's handwriting" fonts:)
i'm sure the teachers will like it. To all teachers out there, Happy teachers day..

Hi Hugbear,

I love your piping of flowers and patterns very much. I've been wanting to learn how to do cake decoration like yours.

How do I start? where can I take such courses?

Thanks for advice in advance

Esther

Thank you Mrs Liao. Are you a teacher by any chance? :)

Esther, you can go to Creative Culinaire for their cake decoration class. You will begin with Basic Cake Deco and then proceed to Intermediate Cake Deco. I attended the intermediate class only and I find it good.

Very pretty piping designs! I like the cute house cupcake box too, just sweet and cute! I find it hard to write pretty handwriting on the cake too, I have pretty handwriting but when I write it on the cake, it's totally different. LOL! Write on a paper and pipe it on a cake is different level of skill.

Hi Hugbear,
The cream that I whipped is always soft and not firm. May I know how do you whip such firm cream for your cake decoration?

Hugbear said...

I just pour the whipping cream into my mixing bowl and whip it on medium then change to high until the cream is whipped up and ready for frosting. I did not add anything else into the cream.

Hi Hugbear

notice that the cupcakes I bake usually dun have flat surface.... it tend to have a mountain shape and if I want to deco, I will have to cut the top. Do you know how I can get a flat surface?

Hugbear said...

Hi Evy, don't fill up the cups with too much batter. Maybe just full up to 2/3 of the cups.

Evy said...

I did that but somehow it still have the lump. Not sure is it because I'm not using the muffin pan as I just bake from the cupcakes cup itself only :( and I notice that everyone cupcakes have flat surface except mine

Then I am not sure why yours turned out like that.
