Recently got a baked donut recipe from a friend. I just tried it out. Taste is quite different from deepfried donuts though. This is more cake like taste and texture and not bread like. Anyway, my kids like it. Sharing with you what I have done.
Thanks to Peony for sharing this recipe with us. Here it goes.
BAKED DONUTS
Ingredients :
1 cup all-purpose flour or top flour or cake flour
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1 tub (150 gm ) plain yogurt
1 tablespoon canola oil
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tsp confectioners' sugar, divided
Method :
In a small bowl, combine the dry ingredients.
Combine the egg, yogurt, oil, lemon juice and vanilla and mix well.
Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened.
Coat the tube pans with nonstick cooking spray and dust with 1 teaspoon confectioners' sugar. Divide batter among pans.
Bake at 200°C for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
Cool for 5 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks.
Dust with remaining confectioners' sugar.

Thanks yan's delites. I am asking for permission to post the recipe up here. Will do it as soon as I have got the green light.
Hi baking mum,
Can I know where can I get the donut tray? And do share the recipe, they looks lovely!!!
Cheers,
Bernice
Tried baked donnut before but it'd bread like..personally don't like fry ones due to health ...appreciate if can have yr recipe here...
Very colorful! I can see you had fun glazing and decorating the donuts.
Hi..they look wonderful!
May i ask how did u make the various glazes?
cheers
lynnetteqq
Hi Lynnetteqq, I just melt down some different coloured chocolate and use it to coat the donuts. You can also just coat it with sugar too. For the different patterns, I just play around with the different coloured chocolate and sprinkles that I have. You can also pipe some pattern onto the glazed donuts (like the smiley face one).
Bernice, I got the mould from Sun Lik at Seah Street. It cost S$6.80 per tray. The donuts are really mini in size.
Ching, I have fun coating them but a little messy afterwards, hehe.
Thanks Poeny & LeeLee...
the sight of the receipe got me so excited....
will work on them soon.
cheers :

Hi Baking Mum,
Thanks for sharing the recipes.
Btw, do you know if sun lik is open on saturday?
Hi Bernice,
Yes they are opened on Sat. Here is the address: Sun Lik, 33, Seah Street
Hey Leelee
did you add some silver luster dust to the pink glaze? its so shiny and pretty!...and are the pink donuts "overfilled" to make then lose their holes? Love it :)
mmm...donuts ... I could eat a lot of them. They are so delicious yet so sinful.
Hi amrita, no I did not add silver luster dust to the pink chocolate. I just melt it down and added a little whipping cream. It is actually not overfilled. I chose some donuts that I overpoured the batter and it closed up the hole to do the pink ones.
Your donuts are so beautiful, and I love all your frosting! YUM! :)
OMG! so colourful. so lovely so intviting,.....really my cuppa of tea.... will definitely able to wallop a dozen....lol
Thanks baking mum, will visit sun lik soon. =D
Hey, your site is great. I am a fan of baking too. I do a little baking here and there. Been thinking of doing donuts, then my cousin sent me your site. God sent I would say, now I can make those donuts I want.
So your frosting is just melted chocolate? Wonder if we can use those from phoon huat (block kinds) melt them and use them? Must I add anything else to the melted chocolates?
Thanks in advance.
hi Lee Lee
i went sun lik this afternoon & saw the one which u bought for $6.80...its too mini for the rough me to manage.. hehe...
any idea where else can i get such mould tray? not found in Phoon Huat also. i really wanna try making the donuts....
thanks.
cheers,
yan
Hi DMS Amore, yes you can use the block chocolate from PH. No need to add anything, just use the melted down chocolate to coat.
Hi Yan, I understand from my friend that PH sells the bigger donut moulds but very expensive, abt S$20+. I have not seen it myself so dunno if this info is correct. Maybe you can give PH a call to find out from them. This is PH's website www.phoonhuat.com.sg
Hi LeeLee
thanks for sharing the info.
i called PH just now & they say the mould is currently out of stock. no price mentioned to me. will check it again at later date.
cheers,
yan
Is it possible not to add egg inside? My frd whom i want to give the dount to is allergy to egg.
Hi,
Thks for sharing the recipe but it doesn't turn out right for me. It turns out to be like scones instead of donuts. Can advise where when wrong???
hi
what is confectioner sugar? where can i get it?
thanks
Bee Lay
Hi Alice, I hope you didn't overmix the mixture. The texture of this baked donuts should be kueh like or cake like.
Hi Bee Lay, confecntioner sugar is actually icing sugar.
Hi hugbear
Thanks! I'll definitely try it one day... but I guess I have to get the mould 1st :P
Bee Lay
hi wuts 150 gm?
Hi Lee Lee, for the sour cream can I subsstitute with milk instead?
TIA.
~jj
jj, it should be plain yoghurt but you can also use sourcream but not milk.
Hi Baking Mum,
I will like to make chocolate donuts how and when should I add in the cocoa powder?
Hi Baking Mum
1 cup, is it equal to 250 gram?
Hello!
Can I ask, whether the yogurt can be replace by milk?
If its not possible, can u give some possible brand of plain yogurts? Like where can I purchase it? THANKS ALOT! (^.^)v
Hi, 1 cup is equal to 250g but if you are measuring dry ingreds like flour, 1 cup is not 250g.
Hi Violet, replace yoghurt with sour cream but not milk. Any brand of plain or natural yoghurt will do. You should be able to get it at any supermarket.
Hi, would love to try your donuts but how to make the coating on the donut? I cant find pink colour chocolate. Do we need to add whip cream? Also, any idea how to do normal glaze so that i can sprinkle rainbow sprinkles on top? Thank you so much! :)
Hi Baking Mum
Wait till my daughters see the colourful donuts! She love donuts but I have to control her lah. So they only have it once in a blue moon.. and imagine how often we get a blue moon? kekekeke
I suppose baked donuts are definitely healthier than the fried ones though.
Thanks loads for sharing. Btw, where can I buy the tube pans from and at reasonable cost? Mind recommending pls?
Thanks.
Mummy to JJs
Hi,
Pls advise how many gms should we use for flour & sugar. tks
hi
if i would like to bake the donut coated with chocolate chips how?
Coated with chips before or after baking?
thanks
You can sprinkle the chocolate chips on the donuts before you bake them.
Hi Baking Mum, this is sure a cry of relief for eating donuts. I stayed away because of the deep fried process but now I can enjoy donuts again. Thank you so much
Natasha-The Bahamas
hi there~
can i use a donut cutter instead of donut pan? will dough be too soft?
Thanks =)
No, I am afraid you cannot use donut cutter. The dough is too soft for cutting. You can only spoon the dough into the donut pan.
