Fondant and Buttercream Cupcakes

I made these cupcakes, both MM fondant and buttercream for a group of people in our church. From the picture of the MM fondant cupcakes, can you make a guess who they are for? You see this group of very dedicated volunteers in church be it raining or sunny weather. I really appreciate them for their hardwork and this is for you guys.

Hi hugbear,

Wow,Your cupcakes are so beautiful!!
I tried using flower tips to pipe out the cream, but the design is not as defined and nice like yours. May I know what tip you are using? Yours is simply perfect!

Tks for your generosity in sharing your talents.. The Lord bless you

Hi Hugbear,

Will the fondant turn hard the next day? What is easier to make MM fondant or sugar paste? Thanks

Jassy, it will depend on how big your cupcake is. Most probably can cover up to 30 to 40 cupcakes.

The sugar paste fondant will turn hard which is very good for making toppers. The MM fondant will not turn hard. In my opinion sugarpaste is easier to make but MM fondant is more tasty.

hi=)
love your blog!
wish that i can be like u too.
anyway,i`ve so many question to ask.
hope u have time to anwer them.

1)what the different between sugarpaste,gumpaste,rolled fondant,marshmallow fondant,normal fondant?i want to do the 3D also but i don`t know which one should be use.

2)if i`m not use shortening,may i use vegetable oil?

have some more questions in my mind but have to go now.i`ll text u later.

thanks =)

Kun, all these are basically all types of fondant. Gumpaste is good with moulding flowers, figurines because it hardens faster. Marshmallow fondant is good for covering the cake but not good for making figurines. Oh and MM fondant taste so much butter than the rest of the fondant.

When you are mixing the sugarpaste, yes you can add oil. But if you are kneading the paste before working on it and want it to be more pliable, you should use shortening.
