Pizza with stuff cheese crust

Sometime back, I baked this pizza for my boys. But sad to say, they didn't really like it. They say they didn't like the cheese in the crust. Oh well, this will be the first and the last time I am making pizza with stuffed cheese crusting.

This recipe was shared by a good friend of mine. Thanks Ah Del.

Easy Pizza Dough

Dough
2 1/2 to 3 cups all purpose flour
1 tbsp sugar
1/4 oz (1 pkg) yeast
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 cup very warm water (120F to 130F)
2 tbsp oil

Directions:
1. In a large bowl, combine 1 cup flour, sugar, yeast and salt; blend well. Gradually add warm water and 2 tbsp oil to flour mixture. Blend at low speed until moistened; beat 2 minutes at medium speed; scrapping bowl occasionally. By hand, stir in additional 1 to 1/2 cups flour till dough pulls cleanly away from sides of bowl.

2. On floured surface, knead in 1/4 to 1/2 cup flour until dough is smooth and elastic; about 8 to 10 minutes. Cover loosely with plastic wrap. Let rest in warm place for 10 minutes.

3. Heat oven to 450F (230C). Roll out dough into 12 inch circle; place on light greased 12-inch pizza pan or large cookie sheet. Pinch edge of dough to create rim. Prick dough randomly with fork. Let rest 10 minutes.

4. Add toppings. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until crust is golden brown.

Note: 1 cup = 150 gm

Hi!

can I substitute all purpose flour with plain flour instead?

Elaine, all purpose flour is actually plain flour.

I'm a guy and totally new to cooking. This recipe is simple enough for me to try. I wonder why we have to use sugar and especially oil here?

Hi Lee

When you said 'blend' flour, sugar, yeast, salt, are you saying using the cake mixer to whisk ?
Love to try this tomorrow.

Thanks.
Catherine

Hi Catherine, yes use mixer to mix flour, sugar, yeast and salt.

The 1 to 1.5 cup is part of the flour mentioned in the ingredients parts. But if it is still to soft, you can always add more flour.

Hi wong - k, what I did was to put cheese at the side of the round pizza dough and fold it to seal the cheese in.
