Just finished cooking this mee goreng for my cell group later. I have never cook mee goreng before and just thought of trying. Added ingredients based on some of the mee goreng I have had before. I have yellow tau kwa, potato, fishcake, prawns, onions, tomatoes and spring onions into it.
This big one is to bring to cell group.
This small plate is for hubby. Hubby said it was a little too spicy for him but the taste was good. I am happy to get his thumbs up for my first attempt.
Mee Goreng Recipe
1 kg of yellow noodles (rinse with some hot water to get rid of oil)
2 pieces of fishcake (sliced)
1 piece of taukwa (sliced into size to your liking)
1 tomato (cut into wedges or cubes)
1 potato (boil in water till soft and cut into cubes)
Some spring onions cut into 1.5 inches length
1 big onion cut into wedges
Some minced garlic
3 tbsp sambal chilli paste (you can use those in a bottle)
3 tbsp tomato sauce
2 tbsp chilli sauce
2 tbsp light soya sauce
1 tbsp dark soya sauce
1 tbsp sugar
100 ml of water
Salt to taste
1. Add some oil in a wok, throw in onion and garlic and fry for a few minutes until onion is broken up. Add in all the seasoning ingredients except salt. Stir to mix well. Do a tasting of the sauce. Add salt or sugar till you are satisfied with the taste. Add in noodles, fishcake, taukwa, prawns and cooked potato and fry until all are well coated with the sauce and the prawns are cooked. Depending on how wet you want the noodles to be, off the fire once you are happy with the consistency of the noodles. Throw in the spring onion and give it a few stir. Dish it up and serve it immediately.
