Chilli Crab and Prawn Rolls

My mom and sister came over for dinner tonight. Sis went and buy 4 crabs for me to cook chilli crabs. I also fried some mantou to dip in the chilli crab gravy. Nice. One of my sister's favour dish is the prawn rolls that I cook and since she has requested for it, I made some tonight too.

Wow! Both looks really-really delicious!!! Drool-drool-drool. I really miss eating crabs made this way. My husband doesn't eat crab (unless it's peeled for him!!!). When I do make it I just make it steamed over beer.

Your prawns looked really good. What did you use to wrap it??

Hi Tricia, thanks for your comments. I love crabs cooked this way and in black pepper sauce too. Yummy!

For the prawn roll, I used the netted Vietnamese rice paper to wrap.

Hi,
I love the look of your crab rolls! May I ask how the netted Vietnamese rice paper look like? Is it the the dried form like the normal rice paper wraps? - V.

I was just going to ask the same question as EMWK ... we do have Vietnamese stuff here (though not as many as in L.A.). Don't remember seeing the netted ones, though...

There is two type of rice paper. One is the smooth one and one is the netted one. I will take a pix to show you here.

Thanks Hugbear,

Hi Cindy, in Singapore, you can get this from Kwong Cheong Thye. Their shop is near Aljunied MRT Station and per packet is S$3.

If anyone is trying this out, you can add a piece of mango or banana to the prawns before wrapping. It will taste nice too.
