Birthday Cake

I was asked to bake a birthday cake for a 6-year old girl and she loves Pocoyo. I think now that my children are older, I have lost touch with all the new cartoon characters. I seriously have no idea how this Pocoyo looks like. I requested for a picture of this pocoyo to be sent to me and now I know this is Pocoyo! Since it was very last minute request, I have decided to use a edible printout on the cake. The cake has three layers of spongecake and in between I have used kiwi and strawberries in it. I tried to decorate the sides to make it more colourful and appealing to children with chocolate moulded flowers and some gummies. Hope the birthday girl is happy with her cake and also wishing her a very happy birthday.

I also made some vanilla cupcakes with chocolate ganache and simple decoration.

    Hi Hugbear!

I lover your website. I always come to it for inspiration. How do you smooth out the top layer of your whip cream frosting on the cake? Mine always do not have that 'smooth' look. :(

  8. Thanks everyone. I got my edible printout done by a friend. It uses edible ink on a sheet of wafer paper.

To get a smooth top, you can try icing a thin layer of cream on the cake and leave it in the fridge for a while. Then take it out and add more cream to smoothen it.

  15. Hi Wendy, I don't remember posting any peanut butter spread recipe. Are you referring to the one they use in mien jian kueh?

O I thought I saw it in your blog. It's those used to spread on bread. Not too sure if it is the same as those used in mien jian kueh.

  20. Hi Lee Lee,

Wondering if you can give me your friend contact. My girls B'day are coming on 17th and 27th. Want to make them a simple fondant cake and place a princesses photo on top, coz I'm now 7 mth pregnant and not sure if I can scalp a princess figurine on it (feel bad if I can't make them one). My e-mail add: chan.shira@gmail.com. Thx
