Char Siew Bao

Well, this is the reason for grilling the char siew. Actually, I am not too pleased with the CSB because they didn't smile as much as I would like them too. I am going to pass some to my sister and mom as my family will not be able to finish all of them.

Before steaming this is how they look.

After steaming, this is how they look.

Lee, you wrap them so nicely. I find it so difficult to wrap. Overall, it's still nice, still smiling. I'm waiting to taste it! :)

Don't give up! It look delicious and fluffy. I have try a lot of recipes(I believe that I tested all the recipes existed on the Web) none of them was able to give this kind of result (Not fluffy at all, no smile and it get hard after cooled). I feel like I had make some "ROCK" buns. So I give up! But after saw the look of your CSB, it give me the desire to try it again. it is possible to send the recipe to me (ismemimi@yahoo.com), I will confidentially kept it for me.

Thanks and kept upload new recipes. My little will be happy to eat new dishes and dessert!

  21. This recipe is a wee bit tideous as it is a 3-day process to get the dough ready. Are you sure you are interested? If you like an easier bao recipe that takes only a day's work, I can ask my friend for permission to post it here.

  23. hi Baking Mum,
I'm new to ur blog, and I know this is extremely late to be asking, but could u also email me the recipe, if it's "allowed"? i have tried the smiling bao recipe at the primaflour.com.sg website, but the bao failed to smile.. :( my family (including myself) has got serious food allergies, and that's why i've to resort to making my own dim sum!

    my email is cantonpixie[at]yahoo[dot]com.

    have a nice week ahead!

  26. A lot of you have been asking me for this bao recipe. I was a little reluctant to share as this recipe is rather tideous and long winded. It takes three days process before you can use the dough. Not sure if I should post this up.
